Sculpture Competition
In early May, around 35 teams get an hour to pick up to 500 lbs of scrap metal from Friedland Industries Inc. and then get one month to make a sculpture.
There is a Large Piece category (500 lbs) and a Small Piece category (250 lbs) of sculptures that will be on display this year.
The sculptures are juried (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People's Choice) and auctioned off at the festival in mid July. ScrapFest began as a competition only, and has evolved into a full repurpose-focused art festival, with eco-art booth artisans, live music, family activities, and food!
70% of the proceeds from sculpture sales go to the artists, 20% to ScrapFest to help put event on each year, and 10% to our charitable partner this year, which is the Old Town Commercial Association!
The sculptures will be sold via a silent auction, in which the artist will decide the minimum bid price, along with a Buy-It-Now price if they want to add one.
